Faye C. Goostree
Ms. Goostree was a woman who gave of herself - of her time, her heart. Her establishment of the Faye C. Goostree Women's Symposium in 1981 was only one example of her lifelong commitment to Christian stewardship and civic responsibility. Ms. Goostree will live on in the Women's Symposium held annually at Texas Wesleyan University. She led a life exemplary to all citizens, but especially to young women. Mrs. Goostree's philosophy was simple but profound: "Everyone has something to give and a responsibility to develop it and share it with others."

Texas Wesleyan University
was founded upon the belief that the primary goal of education is the development of students to their full potential as individuals and as members of the world community. The goal of this institution of higher learning is to give students opportunities to grow both intellectually and spiritually.

   A Women's Studies Minor

minor supports this mission of the University. Students benefit by having the opportunity to participate in courses housed in all departments in the University. The aim of the Women's Studies is to raise awareness of and sensitivity to women's issues, to recognize the achievements of women in all academic and professional endeavors, and to explore the relationship between men and women in culture.
During the 1999-2000 academic year, the Women's Studies Steering Committee planned the first annual celebration of Women's History Month with lectures and events devoted to the work women have done and continue to do in our culture.
