It is the responsibility of the student to locate an internship site, to complete the paper work, and to report to the coordinator at appropriate times. Suggestions for possible sites are listed on the Internship web page: http://web.txwesleyan.edu/sociology/horsfall/Internship.html.
Go to Local Internship Sites (http://web.txwesleyan.edu/sociology/horsfall/Internsites.html). Other sites may be suggested by the coordinator or derived in collaboration between the student and coordinator. In general, students will not do internships at their current place of employment. Should there be an outstanding reason for doing so, please discuss this option with the Internship coordinator and complete the additional paperwork and approval process.
INTERN SITES SHOULD BE LOCATED AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE - PREFERABLY PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER.
In general, the internship consists of 125 hours at an internship site, monthly meetings with the coordinator and other interns, research on the subject related to the internship work, and a final reflection paper on the internship. Refer to the appropriate syllabus for further details.
